Genesis chapter 24 verse 16
16 Now the young woman was very attractive in appearance, a virgin, and no man had had sexual intercourse with her; and she made her way down to the fountain and began to fill her water jar and then came up.

Her inside character and outside appearance also good. What your outward behave reflect your inside also.

Genesis chapter 24 verse 18
18 In turn she said: “Drink, my lord.” With that she quickly lowered her jar upon her hand and gave him a drink.

She very willing to serve him a drink.

Rebekah keep on serve and serve, she came to serve, not to be served, rich she is, but she is not spoil brat, and she has the DNA of Jesus. Just like Jesus come not to be served, but serve, as to give His life to save many.

7 Quality of Servanthood

1= Servanthood is willing
Servant represent Holy Spirit, and Jesus is the true Servant.

Energy will follow a willing heart, when you are willing. I remember Rev. Tan share that everytime morning he will wake the children up go school, and they too tired to wake up and keep on sleeping, then Rev. Tan will take water sprinkle at their face, and they still not wake up, until Rev. Tan got to drag and pull them up and go bath room and open water and splash them, then they fully awake. But when Rev. Tan plan a sunday outing to Wild Wild Wet for his children, suddenly all of them will wake up very early and wake Rev. Tan up to go Wild Wild Wet :) You see. Energy follow a willing heart.

If you read Genesis chapter 24, you will find Rebekah say "willing" total of 7 time.

Genesis chapter 24 verse 58
58 Then they called Re·bek´ah and said to her: “Will you go with this man?” In turn she said: “I am willing to go.”

God is looking for willing Christian for Jesus as Bride.

Psalms chapter 110 verse 3
3 Your people will offer themselves willingly on the day of your military force.In the splendors of holiness, from the womb of the dawn,You have your company of young men just like dewdrops.

Healing, Revival all these will come if you are "willing"

In New Testament we read about how Jesus heal the leper, sick, dead and etc . . . Mostly they always ask Jesus, "are you "willing", and Jesus is always "willing", and they are healed.

2= Excel

Genesis chapter 24 verse 19
19 When she was finished giving him a drink, then she said: “For your camels too I shall draw water until they are done drinking.”

To feed the camel until they are done drinking is not a easy task boy! And this is what we called excel. Excel is exceed more than you required. And when come to serve or do anything, is not how you start, but how you end it.

Quote of the day: Excellence is the attention give to details, that lead to superior performance.

3= Swift

Genesis chapter 24 verse 18 & 20
18 In turn she said: “Drink, my lord.” With that she quickly lowered her jar upon her hand and gave him a drink.

20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the drinking trough and ran yet again and again to the well to draw water, and kept drawing for all his camels.

As we are God servant, our speed is very important. If you got read the Gospel at Mark, when Jesus was informed someone is dead or sick, he will "immediately" go to the situation, that that is called Swift.

I remember that is a night, Ming Jing want to drink water melon juice, me and Jian Wei go and get it, and Jian Wei was walking very fast and running, and I ask him why he so fast, he say just want to be fast lo.. and after that we attend this service of Servanthood Part5, his example was share during debrief, and it is link to Swift.



God will allow different people and different need to come into our life, if today your speed is slow, window of opportunity might be close.

Just like Rev. Tan was sharing a example, although alot of people is very loyal to their hairdresser. When Rev. Tan want to go and have a hair cut, he ask the barber, "can I cut now?", and if he got to wait, he will go to another salon, cause he is very busy and rush, and he also will ask the same question when reaching another salon, "can I cut now or need to wait."And if the person he can cut now, the opportunity of window is open to that second barber.

4= Never Convenient

Serving will eat your time, by doing these, you will be great in the Kingdom and the work place you serve, God and employer will recognise you. It show off your spirit.

5= Honoring

Genesis chapter 24 verse 18
18 In turn she said: “Drink, my lord.” With that she quickly lowered her jar upon her hand and gave him a drink.

Cause he is older, Rebekah look at him with respect. The way you serve, your body language can show that you happy or not.

6= Work

1 Camel drink 106 litre of water, for Rebekah to go up down the stair to draw water and feed 10 camel, can you imagine 10 x 106litre= W O W!!!!! So you can tell she not only inward character is good, and good looking, but also she is very strong in physical. And Camel is very smelly, to serve a smelly animal also not easy boy!

"Destiny not what you know, is how you serve"
Serving open destiny, when there is a need and you serve, that is call "your calling".

Just like Rev. Tan, before he become a Rev or even Pastor, he is normal christian serving in church by carrying speaker from stage to stage as his ministry, morning 7am must reach church. Then he also take part in a run, and he is the fastest runner in that race, and win. And Sun recognise him. So from there he see a need to serve Pastor Kong and Sun, so Rev. Tan go and take his license and pass, first time take and never fail or retest. Amen!. And from there he serve Pastor Kong and Sun like Chauffeur, so slowly he become 2nd in line of Pastor at City Harvest Church.

Genesis chapter 24 verse 22
22 Consequently it came about that, when the camels had finished drinking, then the man took a gold nose ring of a half shekel in weight and two bracelets for her hands, ten shekels of gold was their weight,

And here come Rebekah reward, also can say her married stuff....

7= Caring for others/people

If we can serve and love those nobody want to be friend with one, colleague, friends, strangers, our life and church will be different.

Don't just learn humility, but apply it.
Serving a strangers you may not know he/she is a Angel.

Ending Verse
Genesis chapter 24 verse 58 - 59

58 Then they called Re·bek´ah and said to her: “Will you go with this man?” In turn she said: “I am willing to go.”
59 At that they sent off Re·bek´ah their sister and her nurse and Abraham’s servant and his men.

God do things not to be hear or be see by men. God already prepare for every single one of YOU to enter His Promise!

How to enter? Answer is => Be a faithful Servant to Serve. Not say being a servant is to don't study, don't work and go and be a maid, no! But serve people! Help people! & etc . . .

If you see a need, step out, there is no convenience. If you say 6 month later, your 6 month later come ready, you will say give me another 6 month and I will be free and easy. Because it will keep procrastinating.

Let's be a solution and not the question or problem. And I like to encourage people when serving someone younger than you, don't so pride and ego, all these pride and ego can eat you up. Instead serve with a humble heart to your younger leader, is hard, but pray you can overcome, cause we have Holy Spirit to help us to overcome things. If we don't with a humble heart, God will not bless us.
